jobless... still

This whole "unemployment thing" is really starting to get to me.  Finding a job at the consulate seemed like the perfect fit (save up some cash for the big move to D.C., travel a bit, get some more professional contacts/experience under my belt, etc).  Despite having a BILLION AND ONE openings, the whole "visa" thing is a nightmare.  I won't bore you with the details, but it is a major catch-22.

I have until the end of the summer until I officially have to leave the country (yikes!)... So, I've decided to resume my D.C.-area job hunting.  USAjobs.com, here I come!  But, of course, if anyone has any tips or inside info, feel free to pass it along.
Ciao, folks.

karma... please be my friend

The Frankfurt Consulate keeps posting amazing jobs.  Jobs that I am qualified for, jobs I would rock at.

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!

a happy rejection

As both of my readers know, I am furiously applying for jobs at the moment.  I am really hoping to get something in Frankfurt so I can bum around Europe for another year or so.

I've also been applying for random jobs posted on usajobs.gov, just to get my resume out there.  I've been getting lots of rejections, saying I am not qualified blah-blah.

A posting I applied for a couple months back, ITAO Executive Assistance/Office Manager, wrote back today:

>> You were found qualified; however, in competition with other candidates, you were not referred as one of the highly qualified candidates. We thank you for your interest in the Department of State and encourage you to apply for other positions for which you are qualified. <<

Is it weird that a rejection notice MADE MY DAY??  While I didn't get the job (no suprise there), it did say I was qualified!  The little things give me hope.. I am qualified for this executive position!  Hopefully after another year spent OMS-ing, I can reapply and get some gainful employment building sandcastles.

If anyone has any job tips, send them my way!
